I bought this lens in December 2017. Perhaps this is the best all-purpose lens Canon has ever produced. This STM version is fantastic. When I go somewhere and shoot anything and everything; just slap it on my 7D and enjoy shooting. I also own full-frame and APS-H cameras however, none of those has dedicated all-purpose lens like this. The 24-105mm is great however, not as versatile as the 18-135mm STM. Perhaps it’s nicely weather-sealed as well because, my five year old copy doesn’t have the slightest fungus in it. Sure, I do preserve this and all other lenses in air-tight boxes containing silica gel. Nothing like this lens. Thank you for the video.

Hi mate - is it worth getting the STM over the 2 for just photography? Here in the UK you can get the non stm version for under £100 or the stm from £150-200

I think the combination of this with a Magnetic base, as sold by my beloved BH is a great asset to hold an action camera, flashlight, mic, or an LED light.

I’ve used mine for landscape and find the image is good to about 200mm. Your right about video though. Your better of using the kit lens or 50mm. 🥂

Dude the images that thing produces are insane! So good. Great value lens. If I still shot canon I’d absolutely consider picking one up.

I always think about what I'm going to do with the photo. Social media isn't as demanding as print. I can post DSLR and iPhone and post both and no one noticed the difference. 🥂

I like the 2nd angle because the first angle has distracting backlight. The second angle with the doors gives a almost subconscious anticipation via the doors as a symbol of opening to new opportunities or what have you. If first angle is chosen, I would cover window to decrease the backlight so as to focus the attention more on you. Happy New Year Jimmy!

May I suggest prepping your space for both angles. Also you should place yourself so you are close to the corner to draw attention. I wouldn't depend on the natural light though. Video Influencers just released a video with a soft box light for $40 bucks. With the window behind you it would highlight your face. Even a small ring light is only about $40 and can be adjustable. In the second angle you could open the closet door and put in some RGB lights to give it a glow and interest. Like the old Peter McKinnon videos. I hope this helps. Happy New Year my friend. 😁
